Let me tell you a little bit about myself and how I joined Beachbody.
Body Image, it is tough to be a girl/woman in this culture. Airbrushed perfect thin bodies stare back at us on glossy magazine pages. I have always wanted those bodies. I have desired to be 'thin' my whole life. But recently something changed. My mind frame has shifted and now I want a fit, healthy body that is strong and can accomplish my goals.
Dona, my personal trainer, approached me about four and a half years ago. She needed a few hours of working with clients to become a certified trainer. I was totally game. I love working out. Then I realized we would be working out with weights- some big heavy weights. What? Aren't I going to get huge and buff? No Way! Both Dona and Dave convinced me to try this program and they both swore I would not bulk up. And to prove it we would take monthly measurements- even neck measurements since that was one of my big concerns. I agreed and I can say I am so glad that I did. Taking the monthly measurements proved that I wasn't bulking up at all if anything I was actually getting smaller. Hmmm toned muscles maybe.. less fat. But then I have this issue with the scale. I want- no I need it to go down. It just wasn't. Now this may seem weird cause I was getting smaller, my clothes were looser but my scale was the same, so I wasn't completely happy.
Flash forward four years later. I'm in the best shape of my life. I work out with Dona once a week and eat pretty healthy. I ride my horse four times a week and get in at least one more workout. I was happy my overall results have been great, no amazing but there was still this part of me that wanted to see the scale move. I met with Dona and Dave to go over my goals for the year. The only goal I wanted to achieve was weight lose. They said let's do it. We named it "Are You Winning?". They are clever, they know me so well that they knew if they made it a competition even if it was against myself I would have to win. (I'm just a little overly competitive.) We set a goal of 10lbs in four months. We talked about nutrition because you can't workout a bad diet. Away I went. I started clean eating which I really enjoyed but maybe a little to much 'cause I gained a pound a week for a month. So now I needed to add in better portion control with my clean eating. I started the 21 day fix eating plan which is essentially clean eating with portion control, just what I needed. I lost the gained 4lbs plus 5 more. Then I had a month left to lose the final 5lbs to win. I did the whole 21 day fix program including the workouts and my personal training and riding my horse. I was exhausted but I was definitely thinner. On my final day I weighed in and was the desired goal of 139lbs. Woohoo your thinking, great job, you did it. But here's the catch. I now looked to thin, almost unhealthy. Scary looking in a few photos where my bones are starting to stick out. Not a good look. So I achieved my goal weight which was just arbitrary number anyway and realized i didn't like it. That's when the mind shifted. I want a healthy body that can lift weights and ride horses and do everything and anything I want. Not a "thin" body.
After achieving these awesome results I of course shared my story with anyone who would listen. And because I fully believed in what I had done many people went out and bought the 21 Day Fix for themselves. I was talking to a client (I’m an esthetician at a MedSpa) about my results and she gladly told me that she was a BeachBody Coach and that I should become a Coach too! She believed in me and what was also great she told me to sign up under the person who had sold me my 21 Day Fix. I did it right then and there. So here we are. I signed up at the end of June 2015 and realized the potential I had with this company. Now I’m looking for like minded people who are passionate about health and fitness and want to share that with others.
