Active Recovery Day

Today was my active recovery day. What does that mean? It's technically my rest day but instead of not doing anything at all I chose to do a 30 minute light yoga session. That was my "active" recovery. I did the 21 Day Fix Yoga Fix. And I really needed it. My body was very tight and each move felt like it was needed and thankfully by the end I started to feel my body really loosening up. So sometimes instead of not doing anything at all you should choose to have an "active" recovery day. It doesn't have to be yoga. It could be taking a walk and enjoying the weather. It could be you doing your own series of stretches. You could even just take the time to use the foam roller and work those knots out. Just remember to still drink plenty of water and refresh your body.

Health and Fitness also means massages...Yes!

It is so important to take care of your body.  We ask our bodies to do so much for us but do we take care of our body?  I'm trying to by eating healthy and working out on a regular basis.  And because I workout very regularly and push my body I need to take care of it.  And yesterday I did.  Yesterday I booked myself an hour massage.  For me this is very important because I get knots and very tight. Now I know your thinking but I use the foam roller and that is great.  I use the foam roller at least once a week and try to work things out but nothing can replace a good massage.  A massage by a professional massage therapist who is skilled can not be replaced by anything.  If you are hurting or tight or have knots like me you should really consider trying to get a massage at least once a month.  I know this can be hard on the budget but I say save the money from eating out (where your bound to overeat anyway) and use that extra money to get a massage that your body deserves!

Horses Love to Roll

The sun was out and it was warm here today.  It was like a little taste of summer today.  I loved it!  And the horses loved it too because they got to go out without any blankets on.  So they had a very nice naked roll after both having very nice relaxing rides today!

Shakeology Chocolate Pancakes

I made these this morning and they were delicious.  I  make enough for the week and put them in the fridge for a quick snack on the go!

2 Scoops Chocolate Shakeology
3 eggs
1/2 cup rolled oats (not cooked)
1 banana
1 teaspoon Baking powder
1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
1/2- 1 cup Almond milk

Toss everything into the blender and blend then cook like you would your regular pancake mix!

So again I will admit that I pretty much just eye everything and it turns out great everytime.  Makes around 12-14 pancakes.

Hard nights rest Until...

Most of the time I sleep like a baby.  I really don't have a hard time falling asleep or staying asleep and if something does wake me up its not a problem I tend to fall right back to sleep.  But last night was a different story.

At first I was exhausted so I fell asleep on the couch while the hubby played video games.  I would say my exhaustion was real because he was playing a pretty loud, shooting game and I just kept on sleeping.  Finally some crazy monster work me up. So, I went up to bed.  I fell asleep easy again but then I had the most wonderful dream.  I dreamed about my sweet sweet girl Callie.  Callie was my once in a lifetime dog.  She was beyond special and we had a connection that I can only hope to find again.  She was the type of dog that would anticipate my needs.  It was all about me, Mommy.  I loved her dearly and when she passed of old age I felt the lose very deeply.  I think I'm dreaming about her because we are coming up on the anniversary of her leaving us, March  17th, 2014.

Needless to say when I woke up from this dream I was very upset that the reality was that she is no longer with us.  It lasted for only a moment but you know how it is when you wake up and are still foggy from dreaming a great dream only to find out it wasn't real.  That was me last night.  After that I had quite a restless night.  Woke up multiple times until one of those times it was Zoskia waking me up to tell me she needed to go outside for a nighttime potty.  I let her out, gave her a pat and we went back up to go back to bed and from there on out I slept great again.  So Zoskia, my silly, goofy dog did something last night for me.  She filled my heart up and I was at peace.

Chia Pudding

I must be on a pudding kick because here is another option for a healthy pudding that is clean eating approved.

Chia Seed Pudding

2 1/2 cups unsweetened Almond milk (or vanilla but remember that it has extra calories)

2 Tablespoons agave nectar or local honey

1/2 cup Chia seeds

Pinch of ground Cinnamon

Directions

Whisk the almond milk, agave or honey, chia seeds and cinnamon in a medium bowl. Cover and chill for 4 hours or overnight, whisking once to loosen the mixture after about 3 hours. Spoon into bowls and top with any fruit you desire.
